William Henderson writes a monthly column, The Writing Life, for Hippocampus Magazine; and regularly contributes to The Good Men Project and The Huffington Post.

He has essays and stores included or forthcoming in the following anthologies: Best Gay Writing 2012;  The Seedpod Collective (currently untitled); Stripped; Pure Slush’s SLUT; Ariel Gore’s 1001 Nights; Pure Slush’s GORGE; Pure Slush’s obit., Daring to Repair, through Wising Up Press; and The Other Man. He also contributed to the Dear Tuesday and Dear Teen Me projects, and to Queers on the Verge.

NAP Literary Magazine published Henderson’s first chapbook, Edgeways, in 2011, which was nominated for a 2012 storySouth Million Writers Award. Also, Revolution House nominated mon coeur, an excerpt from Henderson’s in-progress memoir, HOUSE OF CARDS, for a 2012 Pushcart Prize.

Henderson has written and writes for local and national newspapers and magazines, including the Advocate; the Boston Globe; the Seattle Post-Intelligencer; the Marblehead Reporter; Swampscott Reporter; Danvers Herald; and North Shore Sunday; Stork, an Emerson College publication; and the New England Blade (formerly In Newsweekly).

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism & Communications from the University of Florida, and a Master’s in Fine Arts from Emerson College, where he studied creative non-fiction. He earned a Hearst Award in profile writing in 1998, and various awards from the Washington Press Association, Florida Press Association, and the New England Press Association.

He works as a freelance writer, editor, and copyeditor, and is a full-time father to his children, Avery and Aurora.
